Week 25 of 52

For this weeks project I had a lot of help from Joe...in fact he almost did all of it...he made another flower garden around the Japanese Lilac tree in the front yard...I did put a couple of blocks in place and I worked in the black dirt and peat moss...

The finished garden...in the fall I am going to fill this with tulip bulbs

Week 24 of 52

This weekend Aaron was home...so we...Joe, Aaron and myself...Adam was working so he could not make it...went out to Canterbury Park horse races...Aaron wanted to take Joe out for an early fathers day...he will not be home over fathers day...

When I first started this 52 of 52 blog I did say that some of the weekly things I do would not all be jobs/chores...I said that some of the things I do would be fun things I haven't done in a while or have never done...we haven't been out to Canterbury for a year or so...

This week I also started another 6 week session of yoga...

Week 23 of 52

Not much to report this week...I got the last of my annuals planted...the front window box and a flower bed in the front yard...put petunias in both areas...I usually have good luck with them...I know they look a little wimpy now but they will grow...I will post more photos in a few weeks when they are bigger...

Joe and I are still moving the dreaded rocks to make another flower bed in the back yard... the main reason we are doing this is so that we have enough rocks to finish off the back corner where the willow stood...our next step for that is to get some black dirt and then some sod to fill in the area...I know I mentioned this last week but it's an on-going project...might be another couple of weeks before this is finished...now I need to go back outside and mow some more....

Just a little ramble...

Just a short ramble about Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee...as you know I just got back from a visit to England...everywhere we went was decorated for the Jubilee celebration...

                                                          the local garden center
                                                              a shopping center

There will be street party's up and down the country...Joe and I went to one once...we were living in England back in 1985/6...a company move for a year...Adam was just a little guy and doesn't really remember living there...Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were married during our time in England...we went to the neighbourhood street party...food and drink and party games for the kids were the order of the day...

I am a royalist...always have been always will be...I was devastated when Diana Princess of Wales died especially due to such unnecessary circumstances...

I saw the Queen once...I was 12 years old...a school girl at Gresham Secondary School for girls in Bradford Manchester...the whole school got to go and line the streets waiting for the Queen to come by...we all had our little Union Jack flags to wave...after a long wait here she came...the Queen...it was before she did her walkabouts...she rode by in her fancy car...she waved and I swear she looked right at me and waved...memories of a school girl have probably faded with time...but that was the day I saw the Queen...

2012 is a big year for the United Kingdom...the Queens Diamond Jubilee...can you imagine having the same job for 60 years...the Olympics are in the UK this year...and I made a visit...what more can a country ask for...
